I love the colors Eggleston uses as well as the sense of nostalgia each photograph gives. The beauty he brings out in ordinary objects attracts me the most.

Eggleston was born in 1939 in Memphis, Tennessee. I've heard someone regard him as the "William Faulkner of photography" in the way that they both often depict life in the Mississippi, Delta, where they each grew up.

Libertines reunite! and Amy Winehouse

So, The Libertines came together in the wee early hours of May 16. Check out "What Katie Did" from the London tribute gig to Johnny Sedassy, a music promoter/event organizer who passed away in March.

I discovered this video while surfing through Youtube instead of doing my homework. I love Amy, I can't deny it. She's been working on her new album in Jamaica. Can't wait to see what she turns out!

Zee Avi

Zee Avi was apparently discovered on Youtube. Oh, the age of technology is fine, indeed. She has a fresh style, and a lovely voice to match. I'm interested to see where she goes from here because I think she's got a good career ahead of her.

Laura Marling, Beatles

If you don't know Laura Marling, you haven't lived.


Marling's drummer is, incidentally, Marcus Mumford of Mumford and Sons (see below).

On another note, in my recording engineering course we're recording "Lady Madonna."
As an honor to motherhood, I dedicate this song to my sister. Please, let's send positive thoughts to her and her child, they need it right now.



Some interesting tidbits about the song:
According to Ian MacDonald's Revolution in the Head (2008) the song's immediate influence was "Johnny Parker's boogiewoogie piano line on Humphrey Lyttleton's 'Bad Penny Blues'."

Mumford and Sons

I've been obsessed with this group lately. Mainly this song "White Blank Page." Is earnest music coming back? The song actually reminds me a lot of one of my own songs. I'll post that up when I have a proper recording.
